Honoring My Roots – A Tribute to Shawnee High School

Where it All Began – A Watercolor Tribute to Shawnee

Dear Friends,

Before the art shows, the brushstrokes, and the passion projects, there was Medford Lakes, New Jersey – a place of lakeside memories, tree-lined paths, and one incredible community that shaped who am am today.

From 1982 to 1986, I was proud to be a student of Shawnee High School. I cheered on the sidelines of our amazing football games, played lacrosse on the field, and raced around the track with a sprit that still fuels my art. But more than the sprots and the school spirit, it was the friendships, the kind that leave a lasting imprint, that made those years unforgettable. To celebrate the place where so many of my formative moments unfolded, I created this original watercolor painting of Shawnee High School. It’s a love letter to the lasting friendships, memories, the laughter, and the sense of belonging that only a hometown can give.

This piece means the world to me, and I hope it stirs a sense of nostalgia and pride for all who share a connection to this special place.

With love and gratitude,

Maya
